The Maldives are on the forefront of world leadership in becoming carbon neutral, and educating the world about the environmental threats of climate change and sea level rise. This project aims to bring global awareness to the consequences of our interdependent, global economy on the Maldives and other low-lying islands in the Asia-Pacific region. The Dharubaaruge is a convention center originally built for the 5th SAARC summit held in Maldives in the year 1990. It has undergone major phases of construction and currently it is the largest convention center in the country. Conference halls and seminar rooms of various sizes are rented out to the government authorities and the general public to hold functions such as conventions, trade fairs, training workshops, seminars, wedding receptions and parties.
